Blog Entrynot just psyched but BDJ-psyched for 2009!Dec 30, '08 1:07 PM
for everyone

i've been using a yearly planner since highschool and i don't see myself stopping in the future ;p

for the past 3yrs i've had the Starbucks planner for the reason that it's practical since i usually drink coffee, why not get something out of it anyway. but we all know that the SB 2009 planner is a disappointment. i won't even bother going into details for that as it's obviously not worth it.

i got my first Belle de Jour planner today and now i know why a lot of people love this. words are failing me as i was rendered speechless with the excitement and amusement i felt when i opened it! over-acting much? ;p but seriously, this is THE PLANNER to have ;D

here's a photo of my first BDJ planner with my little unggoy lookin' forward to 2009! ;D

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL!

and when it does, the smart thing to do is to just let it go and flush it down the toilet...

i have no idea why it had to happen but i really feel bad bout losing my p&s camera. i don't get the lesson behind it?! ok, maybe there is but it's still difficult to accept that i've totally lost the pictures i took with it! cameras come and go but it's the pictures and moments captured that matters. (i lost it at the ulysses club in NY, geeeessshh!)

i've only been with that camera for a few weeks and just when i was already warming up to it, our relationship was cut short :( i've never been heartbroken like this! it feels so awful :((

yeah i know i need to move on so i will get through this and will continue taking more pictures *sigh*

Blog EntrySurvivor BoholNov 15, '07 5:23 AM
for everyone

On what was initially planned as just a few relaxing days vacationing in Bohol, turned out to be so much more. Well, we did what the usual tourists do. We went to a lot of beautiful places, took pictures (of course! haha), ran around like a bunch of brats with no care in the world (heck, we were so noisy wherever we go) and had so much fun! The whole trip had so many highlights but the most memorable for me is when I dislocated my right shoulder. Oh yeah, I was reminded of escape artists who force to dislocate their shoulders and then 'pops' them back into place. It was like that, very much like that. Except that this was freaky and hella scary cause it happened to me! I only get to see these things happen on TV or movies.

And inevitably, the next questions would be are how did that happen? What the heck was I doing?... Well you see, I jumped from this 'cliff' and into a waterfall ;p.. It was my third jump so I didn't think anything like that would happen.. oh well ;p

I think my arms were angled in a wrong way so my shoulder got dislocated upon impact with the water. Cause when I was underwater I already felt that there was something wrong with my right arm/shoulder. I couldn't move it and when I try to, it hurts like crap. And my worrries do not end there. While still underwater, I felt that my bikini top was no longer covering what it should, argh! And I only had one good hand left to fix it while I try to swim so I won't drown due to the strong current coming from the waterfalls. Horrifying, I tell you. And then I saw Poch, coming towards me to help me out cause the water was deep (or else we wouldn't have jumped). And inside my head I was screaming "Oh no... I haven't finished fixing my top! waah! Oh and I can't move my right arm..". So I tried to move away by turning to my right and that's when I saw Gem swimming towards me, trying to check as well if I was ok. That's when I faced her and calmly said "I think I broke my arm". Her face showed utter disbelief as if saying "what did you say? did I hear you right?". And so with an emotionless facial expression again I said, "I think I broke my arm". And then it finally hit her, but she wasn't sure which part of my arm was broken and she was worried with what my reaction will be if I saw it and so she kept on telling (more like yelling hehe), "don't look! don't look!". But then of course, I still tried to catch a glimpse of my shoulder and thought, "Geeesh, that ain't my shoulder! That's not how my shoulder looks like". It was stuck to a letter L and it looked like it shifted towards the back. It looked really freaky. This by far is the scariest thing that has ever happened to me but I wasn't going to show how frightened I was. And I was lucky cause I was in good company. None of them freaked out, though I could see in their faces that a lot of things are going through inside their heads.

My arm was stuck to an angle and I couldn't move it, not even my fingers. I was trying to find a comfortable position cause it was tiring having to have my arm remain raised at an angle. So, I thought of going to the side of the river to sit and try to rest my arm over my knees. And so I did, I sat and then leaned forward a bit so my arm would reach my knees and then the best part happened. It slid and 'popped' back to its place! And when it did, I faced the rest of the gang and said "Nakita nyo yon? Nakita nyo yon? Ang galing noh!!". They nodded but their faces looked like they were still not believing what was happening.

This could mean my right shoulder/arm will remain weak for a long time until it heals (though I'm not sure how yet). But I have no regrets! ;D because I have so many things to be thankful for.

Before I show you my jump, check out Gem, Poch, Alay and Jenny (don't have a photo of Jason's jump).

And for my jump...

Blog Entryit's back: Starbucks Christmas TraditionNov 8, '07 2:03 AM
for everyone

The 2008 planner actually looks A LOT better than the previous. It has a vintage feel and is not bulky, making it easier to carry around.

This year, a total of 24 stickers has to be accumulated to avail the Limited Edition Starbucks Coffee 2008 Planner. Here's the guide:

* Starbucks featured Christmas Beverages      12 stickers
~ PRALINE MOCHA FAVORITES (hot, iced or Frappuccino (R) Blended Beverage)
~ PEPPERMINT MOCHA FAVORITES (hot, iced or Frappuccino (R) Blended Beverage)
 ~ TOFFEE NUT FAVORITES
(hot, iced or Frappuccino (R) Blended Beverage)

* Starbucks beverage of your choice                  12 stickers
(EXCEPT: bottled beverages, bottled water and fruit juices not included)

Oh and this time, the barristas no longer sign over the stickers cause the stickers now have a serial number! That says a lot huh.

hay, Pasko uli.. ambilis ng panahon!

UPDATE: Do not forget to bring your card with you always! They are more strict now and they have this "no card, no sticker" policy.
(Oh yes, there was a time that I did forget my card. Good thing, my sister doesn't have one yet so I gave it to her). So gone are the days when you could ask your coffee-addict friends to help you out by saving the receipts for you.

But if in case you don't wanna waste that sticker. They said you can have two cards. Fill up one with 12stickers of Starbucks Xmas drinks and fill the other card with 12stickers of other Starbucks beverages.

Blog Entryits official! i'm now a capoeirista! ;DSep 23, '07 6:42 PM
for everyone
The 5th Batizado and Troca de Corda of EBC Philippines was held last saturday (sept22, 2007). And I was blessed enough to be a part of it and be baptized into capoeira along with the other beginners. Now, I have my amarelo corda (yellow belt) and apelido

There were around 36 or so white belters for this year and Fantasma mentioned that we will be called in batches to receive our belts and apelidos. Two batches have passed, and I still wasn't called. I began to feel a little nauseated. Cause we have been told by Fantasma himself and by the other belted capoeiristas that it is possible not to get a belt during the batizado! And I have never exempted myself as one of those who might not get a belt. Then finally! I heard my name!!! waaahhhh!! And just like that, I'm back to my happiest mode ;D.. And for someone who has been training for less than a year of capoeira, I am now officially a capoeirista! its blissful i tell you!

And for my capoeira name? O meu nome é Guarda Chuva.. And since we're in the Philippines, my name kinda sounds gay hahaha ;p

But here's what it means:
                                    Guarda - protection / guard
                                    Chuva - rain

So yeah, I am umbrella-ella-ella-eh-eh-eh :D (yeah I had to sing that whenever I tell people bout my name hehe)

To be honest, I wasn't ecstatic when I initially heard it. But its my name, its me and I now love it! ;o)

Besides, I love the way that its meaningful in so many ways.. I am protection from rain -- which could stand to several meanings that could be literal or figurative.. And so there, as my name stands, I won't be able to stop the rain but I can protect you or guard you from it ;o) oha!

Oh, and it doesn't end there! I did some research and tried to see if my name has any form of significance in capoeira itself. And I found so many articles! Now the only problem is to try to understand what they mean since they're written in Portuguese ;p

Capoeira is now a part of who I am and I am so thankful.
Made me wish I have started sooner, since I have been wanting to try to learn it since 2004 but I was only able to finally put my plans into action last year. And when Mestre Oscar said that capoeira is the remedy, I definitely agree with him. This may sound mushy, but capoeira has healed me in so many ways and it was in such perfect timing. I know that sounded baduy especially to those who haven't tried capoeira because you have to experience it to be able to understand. Anyway, no amount of words can actually capture the kind of meaning, experience, knowledge there is in capoeira, so imma stop now ;p

And of course, parabens to everyone!! To those who received their first belts, to those who leveled-up, and to those who skipped belts! And who can dare forget that Macaca is now a blue-green belter! Oh man, she got me terribly teary-eyed (and Joem had to point me out grrr ;p).. cause seriously during the event, i was watching her and thinking how does it feel to witness that everybody else gets to have their belts while she has to go to Brasil to get hers.. but you can always expect her to do the right thing.. she was there celebrating with us even if the possibility was huge that she would still remain a graduado.. kudos to you Macaca! And also, parabens to Maori!!! I think he's the first graduado of EBC Philippines and not a single soul would object to
that as everybody knows he definitely deserves it! Last but not the least, muito obrigada to Biscoito, Doutor, Fantasma and to everyone else who helped organized the batizado. Thanks also to the guests and mestres who flew all the way here to share their axe to our batizado! It was really awesome!! Can't wait for next year! ;D

EDIT:
Chuva is pronounced as "shoova" not "tsuva", owkie

Blog Entryoh happy day(s)!!!Sep 8, '07 5:14 AM
for everyone
so this write-up is a bit overdue (yes i know, pati ba naman dito eh late pa din hehe ;p).. but still, better late than never and there is no way i'd let this chance pass without thanking God and the people around me :)

aug30th
- straight from 12hours of nightshift, me and my officemates went to play badminton.. yes, that's right.. with no sleep (and i had just a cup of hot choco), we played till noon and then had lunch at Max's (thanks po uli Bigdad!!!).. i could barely keep my eyes open but i was having a really good time (kahit na umuulan ng chismis, eh kasi ba naman andun si r1 ;p)

- then afterwards, the others had to head home and i was left with BigDad, r1, r2, and Marky.. initial plan was r1 will be dropping me, r2 and BigDad at buendia.. but then for some reason, and after a couple of turns here and there, we found ourselves drinking san mig lights in nipa hut!!! at what, 3 or 4 in the afternoon? crazy, huh hehehe.. but as i told them, i am a bit sentimental and i take note of how i spend my days pre, post and during my bday(usually starting on aug30).. so i told them this and will say it again, i am glad i spent my aug30th as i did and that i spent it with them ;o)

- oh but the day doesn't end there.. cause when i got home, my friends from don bosco were at my place ready to celebrate my bday with some pizza and drinks(again)! yey! .. i managed to stay up for less than two hours but forces greater than me made me drop to my bed without even remembering how it happened? ;p.. i woke up feeling really embarassed the next morning cause instead of spending time with them, i sorta left them and then slept =\ kahiya..

aug31st
- but then the next night, my friends from don bosco were back at the apartment (this time to celebrate my sister passing the board), and so i took the chance to tell them that "di man halata kagabi, pero sobrang saya ko na andun kayo"

- then i dashed off to meet some college friends at our usual tambayan ;p.. to those who didn't make it, its alright .. but too bad cause you guys didn't get to see my surprise guest that night.. none other than Boj! oh man, he has really grown (if you don't believe me, checkout my bday album)..

- oh and that friday session is actually a joint-celebration of me, mon and jap ;D

ps: btw jm, yes you still owe me that treat haha ;p

sept1st
- capoeira training last night was cancelled, in which i was a bit devastated cause i was really looking forward to it.. and so, i made it a point that i make it to saturday training.. and.. i wanted to have capoeira on my very bday

- and to my surprise, i was given a birthday roda!!!! it was really cool!!! i wasnt expecting to be given one (and to be honest, i was a little afraid.. cause i'm still such a newbie, and i tend to panic when inside the roda :| ).. but then again, i could never be more thankful for that birthday roda!!! i could barely breathe after playing and my legs were getting wobbly but i was at my happiest!!! (see, too much exclamation marks ;p)... its one of the major highlights of my bday (and my life).. and i am soooo thankful ;D

- after training, me and my capoeira friends had dinner at highstreet while i waited for my sister my best friends and other capoeira friends to join us for dessert at sonja's.. i have tasted their cupcakes before but i have never really been to their store! and i wanted sister to try their cupcakes, thus, i thought that's where i could treat my sister, my bestfriends and capoeira friends

sept2nd
- had a special lunch prepared at home as a joint celebration of my bday and my sister passing the board :)
- then had some pizza with my colleagues during nightshift as pizza is easily AI's favorite ;p
- and bought some breakfast before heading home for the morning shifters :)

so there :) this was truly one of the happiest birthdays ever!
thanks to all of those who greeted me via email, ym, sms, multiply and even friendster(as i hardly check it really)!

oh and for the photos

at SAGUIJO!! and no better time to go there but by invitation from none other than nyko maca ;o) so i went there for her and to my surprise there were a whole lot of bands playing that night.. only then i remembered her mentioning that it was MANIFESTO, so several bands were lined-up: brigada # dj mola # drip # sino sikat # los indios bravos # nimbus9 # god's will

look who is excited hehe..

when we got there, Jerry was almost finished djing.. darn it, if i had known he was spinning that night we would have showed up earlier (stupid me cause when he said he was djing that night, i thought he meant embassy ;p)

i got just one photo of him spinning (a pretty lousy shot too ;p).. he's the one at the middle.. he's known as dj mola or soulquest..
warning: some photos to follow are not-so-good.. tis crazy but.. they were taken by someone who had beer on an empty stomach hehe

cafe saguijo was named as such since its at guijo street in makati and its actually a house turned to a bar, specially known as well for its very artistic interior..

there is a small store at the second floor called Baul and they got clothes, bag, shoes, accessories.. a shopper's heaven for those who dig vintage designs and whatever out-of-the-ordinary.. i was going to get this shirt but the length is too short, it'll fit me but i'd be exposing some waist action (not my kind of look ;p hehe) and mind you this shirt is by electrolychee!!!!! and i feel awful there was only one size left..
"when i say chukChak, you say Chenes! chukChak, Chenes! chukChak, Chenes!"

this one's by the stairways leading to the second floor..

this one's obviously below the stairs..

the bar..

some wall art here and there..

stairway to.. the restroom ;p

as for the bands.. Drip then performed after Dj Mola and i am now officially in love with them!!! you have got to hear them and then you'll know why.. they are releasing a new album by April!
"is anybody listening..."

then Brigada! damn, no wonder this group was in demand.. and its true, the best way to appreciate their music is by dancing hehe..

and when nyko joined them.. it got crazier, in a good way ;o)

kjwan performed as well..
"send me an angel in the morning.."

of course, nyko joined them..

here's nimbus9 and god's will..

the ceiling (wala lang ;p)

then sino sikat played, they've got really good music and they are certainly one of the bands people should watch out for!! (i was just bothered by how the vocalist kept on fixing herself while singing.. if she's just being cautious to avoid a wardrobe malfunction, then i guess its fine ;p)
"sino, sino, sino, sino, oh-oh!"

then it was los indios bravos' turn.. i got nothin nice to say so im just gonna shut up ;p

and finally!!! twas nyko maca + playground

there were a lot of new songs played, Brigada performed one with no title yet and Sino Sikat sang one song which was like finalized just the day before ;p

the event took longer that expected as there some who overplayed.. but in total, it was all good! ;o)
